A list of services is how this gets sold, and it's a reasonable way to shop. It just isn't a reason to buy all of them at once when one of them is what's actually hurting.
People compare these menus because they're trying to work out what the category even contains, and the menus are broadly similar because the work broadly is. What a menu can't tell you is which line on it is the one your business needs in the next sixty days.
Usually it's one. Occasionally it's two. Almost never is it the whole column, and a firm that tells you otherwise in the first meeting is selling the column rather than looking at the business.
Look for the thing that's costing you a decision. If you can't tell what last month made, the close is the service. If you know what it made but not what to do about it, the read is. If the filings keep arriving as surprises, it's the calendar underneath both.

Even one service is bought from a seat rather than from a menu. A Tax CFO is the controller and CFO seat for an owner-run business with the tax work inside it, so the books, the return and the plan come from one desk and the October number is decided before the year ends.
Breadth is why a single service still works here, because the person doing it can see the return and the filings it touches rather than just their own line. Height is the part you can add later, which is the read that decides the year rather than describing it.
Describe the decision you keep putting off. That points at the service more reliably than any list does, and if the honest answer is that you don't need one of these yet, you'll hear that instead of a bundle.
Pointing at a single finance service and doing it well is ordinary advisory work, and no CPA license sits behind it here. If the thing you actually need signed is an audit, a review, a compilation or an assurance report, that gets named on the first call and pointed at a firm that holds the license. The same goes for standing in front of the IRS on your behalf. Payroll gets set up on a provider you own rather than run from this desk. The rest of the limit is written on the disclosures page.
